“ Doing justice in the way of Jesus is our mission.”
The Mission of Jesus
Jesus began his universal mission by speaking to the people in the words of Isaiah “The Spirit of the Lord has been given to me, for God has anointed me.
God has sent me to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to captives and to the blind new sight, to set the downtrodden free, to proclaim the Lord's year of favour.” (Luke 4: 18 -19)
The Call of Nano
"The course of Nano Nagle's life was shaped by this same Spirit. God's Spirit led her through uncertainty and failure to an ever clearer understanding of her mission. That understanding enabled her to take steps to liberate the poor from ignorance and injustice.” (Constitutions –C4)
In the same way, as Presentation Sisters, we are invited to respond with creative daring to the call of the Spirit in our life and mission. "Every Presentation Sister shares in this according to her gifts. The quality of her presence to others, her apostolic prayerfulness and the gift of her life are of untold value in bringing about the reign of God." (Constitutions - C11)
Call of the Congregational Gathering 2006.
Moved by the vulnerability of the dispossessed, the trauma of AIDs orphans, the daily hunger of people, the search for meaning, the fragmentation of our universe and our own fragility, we came to a new consciousness of our inter-connectedness and our interdependence.
Confronted with “our responsibility to one another, to the greater community of life and to future generations,” (Earth Charter) disturbed by the divisions of our two-third/one-third world and by the destruction of the planet, we became aware of our need to develop a spirituality of being in communion which draws us to reverence and nurture the Cosmos, Earth and its peoples, particularly where these are most wounded.
