Where We Are

Our Ministries

Our Lady of the Snows High School

The first four Sisters began their ministry in a small high school called Our Lady of the Snows High School (OLSHS).The patron of the town is Virgen delos Nieves, Spanish of Lady of Snows. One of the stories of the name is, during the time of the Spaniards who colonized the country and Christianized her as well, pirates used to raid the towns. The people in Himamaylan led by the Spanish priest used to pray to our Lady to save the town. The church was facing the sea with huge white waves.Another story was about petals of the flowers white as snow that were falling.

Binalbagan Catholic College

In June 1961, the year after the Sisters’ arrival, the Columban Fathers started a third level education for those who could not who could not afford to go to the cities where there were the schools for third level education. The third level school is Binalbagan Catholic College (BCC) and one of the Sisters helped to develop the college and was its first Dean. It is now under the complete administration of the PBVM. Other Sisters who came later were also engaged in working with the catechetical teachers in the parishes and public schools.

Presentation Community Centres

The formal education in the schools expanded to non-formal and health education of the families, scholarships and other forms of services for the families when tuberculosis was rampant in the country and it is still rampant in the country. Thus began the Presentation Community Centres, one in Himamaylan and another in Binalbagan.Much later some Sisters became affiliates with the Rural Missionaries ofthe Philippines (RMP) in the ministry ofthe cause of “land to the tillers”which includes non formaland healtheducation and small income generating projects in somemountain villages of Negros. Some of the people in the mountain villages are tribal people.

The RMP is a mission partner of the Association of Major Religious in the Philippines (AMRSP).More recently the Sisters entered into formal agreement with the Redemptorists Fathers to run the Scala Retreat House in the city of Bacolod in Negros Occ. Newly opened also is the Nagle House, temporary shelter for Women in Crisis Situation and as “home away from home” dormitory for young girls

Involvement in Non-sectarian Schools and pre-schools

As the lantern of Nano was brought to Cebu, the Sisters decided to work in non-sectarian schools according to their qualifications and jobs open to them. The goal is to to witness to the values for which the Church and the Presentation Sisters stand by their presence. Later on the pre-school education and health center for tribal people called Badjao became a Presentation ministry in Cebu.
