Prema Antony - UN Reflection

Prema Antony has completed her internship at the United Nations. In this article, she reflects on her time at the UN which she describes as 'a journey in faith, an adventure in hope'.

Prema was inspired by her work with people from around the world, all speaking in unison with a prophetic voice, stirring into consciousness the needs of the ‘bottom billion” – the invisible poor. It has helped her to develop a new perspective of inter-connectedness. It has inspired her 'to live simply, so that others may simply live'.

She stresses that we need to ensure that the work done at the level of the United Nations becomes well known back in our countries and communities at the local level so that we can strive to make a difference on the ground. We also need to work to hold governments responsible and accountable for commitments made at the UN and to monitor and report on progress. Messages to Prema Antony.

The Sisters had observed that  large numbers of youth in the port town of Goa, Marmagao, were involved in anti-social behaviours and the school was started to provide a second chance to students who for various reasons drop out of the regular education system.
