Poverty & Wealth: Two sides of the same coin
The accompanying picture of a partially healthy and partially dying tree was drawn by a teacher in the Indian province. The sisters in India depicted extreme poverty and excessive wealth as one tree rather than two to highlight that poverty and wealth are inextricably connected - through the same causes, personal and corporate greed.
Perhaps we could all spend some time reflecting on the image and on how each of us can address our own personal habits of consumption that contribute to both excessive wealth and extreme poverty.
